At Acupuncture Wellness Center, we offer foot reflexology that is based on ancient Chinese therapy and involves manipulation of specific reflex areas of the foot that correspond to other parts and organs of the body. This form of bodywork involves application of pressure to reflex points to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion. Similar to acupressure principles, reflexology works with the body’s energy flow to reduce pain, increase relaxation, and stimulate the circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids to stimulate self-healing and maintain balance of the body.

It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas from stress or overwork, such as the neck, back, and shoulder areas. This type of massage is generally more intense. However, it should not hurt. It is important to communicate with your therapist regarding the intensity and pressure of the massage so that they can adapt their technique as needed throughout the massage. Deep tissue massage is generally integrated with other massage techniques.
